Dear Friends, Greetings from the Hungarian Information and Cultural Centre. In October, we commemorate the 1956 Hungarian Revolution with the ongoing photo documentary exhibition and two new films. Kobzos Folk Ensemble will enthrall the music lovers with Hungarian folk music during their tour.Hungarian films will be screened as part of festivals too. The highlight of this season is the most awaitedContemporary Hungarian Art Exhibition by 40 Hungarian artists presenting over 90 works titled "From Organic Forms to Light Art" curated by Attila Csáji, Vice President of the Hungarian Academy of Arts. The exhibition is an amalgamation of organic art, non-figurative works, light art, graphics, sculptures, geometric and figurative art. The exhibits will be on view at theNational Gallery of Modern Art in New Delhi and will travel to NGMA, Mumbai in November and NGMA Bengaluru in December. The exhibition is an amalgamation of organic art, non-figurative works, light art, graphics, sculptures, geometric art and figurative art. This selection shows some of the best works in different fields of arts of the last 30-40 years from artists who created something outstanding in their own field. (Only for DU students) Hungarian Folk Music Concert Tour October 21–28 KOBZOS FOLK ENSEMBLE Folk Music from Hungary The Kobzos Folk Ensemble was founded in 2006 to perform mainly Hungarian spiritual songs with instrumental accompaniment at the beginning. Later, the repertoire of the Group has increased gradually, thus by now, apart from spiritual concerts the following can also be found: folk music concerts from different regions, dance-workshops (so called 'dance-houses') for adults as well as children, different workshops for children and early music concerts whose sets are made up of the musical themes from medieval Europe. Our members have already been awarded different awards all and singular too, such as: 'Young Master of Folk Art Award', 'Bezeredj Award' of The Ministry of Cultural Heritage, 'Béla Bartók Prize' and 'For the Hungarian Arts Award'. (Only for Amity students) Special film show  at HICC October 22 Tuesday at 7 pm ROBERT CAPA – 100th birth anniversary Special film show with short introduction by Mr. Tibor Kovács at HICC "If your pictures are not good enough, you weren't close enough." quotes Capa Hungarian combat photographer Robert Capa redefined wartime journalism by joining soldiers in the trenches and documenting their battle in grim, close-up detail. His first assignment was in the Spanish Civil War. He went on to cover World War II. The 1948 Arab-Israeli War and the First Indochina War. He co-founded Magnum Photos with Henri Cartier-Bresson. He died by stepping on a landmine. This year we commemorate his birth centenary with a short introduction by Tibor Kovacs followed by film screening. THE MEXICAN SUITCASE (with English subtitles) Directed by Trisha Ziff (2011), duration: 90 minutes Mexican Suitcase tells the story of three lost boxes, found in a closet in Mexico City in 2007. Small boxes red, green and manila, that disappeared in the chaos in Europe at the beginning of World War II. Contained in the suitcase 4,500 unique negatives, the work of three friends, who met in Paris between 1936 and 1937, who would become some of the finest photojournalists of their time; exile from their respective countries, Germany, Poland and Hungary. They were committed anti-fascists who understood the dangers of what was happening in Europe. They travel to Spain together to fight fascism with their camera. Fábri Film Club at HICC October 24  Thursday at 6pm COMMEMORATION OF THE 1956 HUNGARIAN REVOLUTION The Hungarian Information and Cultural Centre commemorates the 1956 Hungarian Revolution with two films: PLAY YOUR OWN GAME 1956 Documentary film, directed by Ferenc Török (2011), B&W, duration: 25 minutes The film denotes a brief summary of the events preceding the 1956 revolution and flash-backs of the revolution. DEAR BETRAYED FRIENDS (Drága besúgott barátaim) Feature film, directed by Sára Cserhalmi(2012), colour, duration: 93 minutes At the archive, Andor decides to read through the file the secret police kept on him. To his surprise he discovers that even his close friend János informed on him. Can the lifelong friendship survive in the face of such a betrayal? Hungarian director Sára Cserhalmi's disturbing debut treats a sensitive topic from the recent past but avoids absolute judgments. Group exhibition  at HICC October 25–30 Inauguration on 25th October, Friday at 6 pm ART BOUQUET Exhibition by 15 Indian artists organized by FACT Federal Alliances of Creative Talents (FACT INDIA) has a mission to promote, support and provide a platform to growing, fresh, rising artists, of various arts. In this series we are presenting 15 artists from different medium in the art show ART BOUQUET. This is a group show of some senior artists with growing artists together on one platform to present and promote art and share the experiences of each other. (On view on weekdays from 10 am till 4 pm) Music and culinary festival  at Dilli Haat October 27 Sunday 5 pm onwards SOUNDS AND FLAVOURS OF HUNGARY In cooperation with Dilli Haat - Delhi Tourism and RIG INSTITUTE As the Festivities light up Delhi City, the Hungarian Information and Cultural Centre with the cooperation of the RIG Institute Noida, adds a little spice by bringing a festival that aims to promote the incredible diversity of the Hungarian culture and cuisine through music and food. The festival gives the visitors a chance to enjoy the sounds and tastes of Hungary in the midst of the cultural gully of Delhi the Dilly Haat. Lecture at HICC October 28 Monday at 6 pm WHEN I WAS IN BUDAPEST: A NEW LEARNING EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE Lecture by Dr. Vijaya Sati Dr. Vijaya Sati is an Associate Professor in Hindu College, Delhi University and was deputed as Visiting Professor in the Department of Indo-European Studies, ELTE University, Budapest by Indian Council Of Cultural Relations in 2011-2013. She will be giving an interactive talk on "When I was in Budapest: A new learning experience of my life". These are memories of the city, its people and their life what she was able to see and grasp. Exhibition  at HICC November 5–30 Inauguration on 5th November Tuesday at 6 pm HUNGARIAN LANDSCAPES – HUNGARIAN PLACES Graphics by János Bozsó The exhibition presents graphics from artist and avid art collector János Bozsó. Even for those who know János Bozsó's art well his graphics have an astonishing effect. The themes of his oil paintings derive from the experience of the Hungarian landscape. On the artist's graphical sheets the figural depiction appears frequently. All of his work - pencil drawings, pastels, aquarelles - tell a story about the people and the Hungarian landscape because he was devoted to them. His creative method drew character of virtuosity and rapidness however his technical knowledge never overcame the message of his work. He always found new and fresh themes when he looked through the window or sat down on the edge of town.
