Day 8: Coca-Cola Cricket Cup U-16 Inter-School Tournament, Delhi-leg

St. Xaviers School Thrash Rajkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidyalaya; Salwan Boys Sr. Sec. School Advance to Next Round

New Delhi, 20th November 2013: Akshdeep Singh’s all-round performance and Rohit Khullar’s useful knock helped St. Xaviers School, Raj Niwas Marg defeat Rajkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidyalaya, Karol Bagh by seven wickets in a Group C league match of the Coca-Cola Cricket Cup U-16 inter-school tournament, played at St. Xaviers School ground today.

St. Xaviers School won the toss and opted to bowl first. They materialised the new ball and fresh pitch to destabilise the opponents’ batting line-up. Kevin and Akshdeep spearheaded the bowling attack with their deadly three-wicket hauls and bundled out them at 106 in 25.1 overs. For Rajkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidyalaya, Pankaj and Manish showed some resistance with their 21 and 16-run knocks.

In reply, St. Xaviers School achieved the target in 16.2 overs after losing three wickets. Rohit led the batting line-up with his 40-run knock. He was well-supported by all-rounder Akshdeep, who scored 18 runs and won the match for the team.

Rohit was adjudged Man-of-the Match for his spectacular innings.

Match 2: In a Group A league match, Salwan Boys Sr. Sec. School, Old Rajinder Nagar thrashed Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya, Bharat Nagar by 10 wickets at Bharat Nagar ground today.

Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya won the toss and opted to bat first. However, they failed to materialise the opportunity and the whole team was bowled-out at a meagre score of 37. Salwan Boys Sr. Sec. School’s Jitender, Shivam and Sahil rattled the oppositions’ batting line-up with their three-wicket hauls and contained them in 12.4 overs

While chasing, Salwan Boys School achieved the target in just 2.2 overs. Openers Jhonty (15) and Saurav (14) smashed boundaries all around the ground and won the match without losing any wicket.

Jitender was adjudged Man-of-the-Match for his best bowling performance.
