Russian bombers ‘violated’ airspace on Venezuela-Nicaragua flight

Colombia's government has sent a protest note to Russia over the alleged violation of the airspace by two long-range bombers on a flight from Venezuela to Nicaragua. President Juan Manuel Santos says the Russian planes should have asked for permission to enter Colombian airspace but didn’t, AP reported. He added the bombers also returned to Venezuela through Colombian airspace and were intercepted by two Colombian Kfir jet fighters. Russia's Defense Ministry said on October 28 that two Tu-160 supersonic bombers had flown to Venezuela as part of a military exercise.
