GAIL Gas joins hands with UPSIDC to expand natural gas downstream distribution network
New Delhi, 12th June, 2014, GAIL Gas Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of GAIL (India) Limited and Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation (UPSIDC) signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today at New Delhi to expand the Natural Gas downstream distribution network in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The MoU was signed by Shri Pankaj Kumar Pal, Chief Executive Officer, GAIL Gas Limited and Shri Manoj Singh, Managing Director, UPSIDC in the august presence of Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Akhilesh Yadav. Shri Alok Ranjan, IAS, Chief Secretary Industries, Shri B.C Tripathi, Chairman and Managing Director GAIL (India) Limited, Shri Prabhat Singh, Director (Marketing), GAIL (India) Limited and along with other Senior Officials of GAIL and UPSIDC were present at the occasion.
This MoU will lay the foundation for building up natural gas infrastructure for fulfilling the demand of Natural Gas, setting up CNG stations along the highway corridor and distribution of gas to various industrial clusters and parks in Uttar Pradesh. The investment envisaged for developing this CGD project is about Rs. 140 crore.
The CNG corridor will enable the usage of CNG in and outside the city limit and will promote the concept of long journeys on Natural Gas vehicle. Three major CNG Corridor Projects are planned over the highways. Delhi- Agra Highway covering 200 km. with 6 CNG stations at Kosi, Sikandra, Etawah, Fatehpur Sikri, Vrindavan and Govardhan. Lucknow-Kanpur highway covering 77 km. and 2 CNG stations at Unnao. Karanpur- Moradabad- Kashipur- Rudrapur Highway covering 145 km. and 4 CNG stations at Chandausi and Rampur.
In order to cater to the demand of Natural gas to Industrial Clusters in Uttar Pradesh natural gas distribution is proposed through mobile cascades. It will cover areas like Shamli, Gajraula, Saharanpur, Kosi, Sikandra, Etawah, Fatehpur Sikri, Vrindavan and Govardhan.
