South Korea important non-european investor for Slovakia

Republic of Korea is the most important non-European investor in Slovakia, said Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajcak after meeting the head of South Korean diplomacy Yun Byung-se in Bratislava on Thursday.

"Kia and Samsung employ nearly 10,000 of our citizens, and with them nearly 90 Korean companies have come to Slovakia. All this creates a very strong basis for interest in maintaining our co-operation. We should do everything we can to make Korean investors in Slovakia happy and successful," added Lajcak. Bilateral trade between Korea and Slovakia reached 3.4 billion euros (4.63 billion U. S. dollars) last year.

There are more than 80 Korean companies in Slovakia, which have invested 1.2 billion euros (1.63 billion U. S. dollars) and play an important role in the economic development of the country", stressed Yun. Media agencies
