Typhoon Matmo hits Taiwan

Typhoon Matmo hit Taiwan on Wednesday, killing at least one person and damaging buildings. Heavy rains and strong winds disrupted and shut down financial markets and schools. The typhoon reached a category two on the Tropical Storm Risk scale, with winds reaching a speed of 155 kph (90 mph), according to the Central Weather Bureau. One person died in northern Taiwan after falling into a pool, and a tourist is reportedly missing after taking photographs on the shore. The storm is forecasted to make its way towards China later on Wednesday.
