Government has directed civil servants to maintain political neutrality, transparency and accountability and take all policy decisions guided solely by public interest.
For efficient governance the Ministry of Personnel has revised conduct rules, by including 19 new rules for bureaucrats. The civil servants have been told to show courtesy and good behaviour with public and be responsive to people, particularly the weaker sections. Civil servants are now also required to maintain high ethical standards, integrity and honesty. The do's and don'ts are part of an amendment to the All India Service (Conduct) Rules issued in 1968 which serve as a charter for all civil servants. |
