Srinivasan should step aside: SC tells BCCI

Srinivasan should step aside: SC tells BCCI
Dec 9,

The Supreme Court today asked the Board of Control for Cricket in India or BCCI to take punitive action against N Srinivasan's son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan, who was involved in betting in IPL. The Court gave four options to the BCCI on handing out punishment to Meiyappan.

It said Srinivasan, the BCCI chief-in-exile, should step aside and a BCCI committee take a decision on Meiyappan. It said two independent judges be appointed to look into the punishment. The third option the court offered is that the IPL Governing Council decide on it.

The final option it gave is that the Justice Mukul Mudgal committee, which probed into the IPL betting scandal in 2013, decide what punishment can be given to Meiyappan. Srinivasan is accused of not taking action against his son-in-law.
