No interference in functioning of Film Censor Board

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Colonel Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore today clarified that there was no coercion on Central Board for Film Certification chairperson Leela Samson from the Ministry in Dera Sachcha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh's film Messenger of God. He said the Ministry has always respected decisions of the board and has never tried to interfere in its affairs. He told reporters in New Delhi, that final call on the film lies with Film Certification Appellate Tribunal.

Colonel Rathore also said, the ministry has not received any resignation letter from the Board's Chairperson. He added that the entire board was appointed by the previous government and none of the members have been changed and no additional member has been put in. The Minister also clarified that the extension of the members that the chairperson is talking of has been granted to the entire board. Ms. Samson is reported to have resigned following the clearance given to the film by Film Certification Appellate Tribunal. She has alleged interference, coercion and corruption, which appeared to be directed at the Information and Broadcasting Ministry.
