The total approximate earnings of Indian Railways on originating basis during 1st April 2014 to 31st December 2014 were Rs. 114656.13 crore compared to Rs. 101856.45 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 12.57 per cent. The total approximate earnings from goods during 1st April 2014 – 31st December 2014 were Rs. 77161.55 crore compared to Rs. 68776.35 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 12.19 per cent. The total approximate revenue earnings from passengers during 1st April 2014 – 31st December 2014 were Rs. 31955.07 crore compared to Rs. 27646.13 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 15.59 percent. The approximate revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs.3021.94 crore during April 2014 – December 2014 compared to Rs. 2862.19 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 5.58 per cent. The total approximate numbers of passengers booked during 1st April 2014 – 31st December 2014 were 6256.16 million compared to 6360.15 million during the same period last year, showing a decrease of 1.64 per cent. In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the numbers of passengers booked during April 2014 - December 2014 were 3409.61 million and 2846.55 million compared to 3416.02 million and 2944.13 million registering a decrease of 0.19 per cent and of 3.31 per cent respectively during the same period last year. |
