Shiv Vahtuk Sena takes a ‘Clean Drive’ for City Rickshaw Drivers
Rickshaw drivers vow to keep the city clean
Mumbai, January 15, 2015:Shiv Vahtuk Sena (Shiv Transport Union) President Haji Arafat Shaikh takes ‘Clean India’ mission to the next level. Shiv Vahtuk Sena conducted training programme for Auto-Rickshaw drivers to ensure Clean Mumbai.
Under the guidance of Haji Arafat Shaikh, the Shiv Vahtuk Sena conducted the training programme todayat Lal Bahadur Shashtri road – Kurla, to educate rickshaw drivers about the ‘Clean India’ movement. More than 350 rickshaw drivers attended the programme. Haji Arafat Shaikh addressed the rickshaw drivers to polish their behavioral patterns and urged them to maintain cleanliness in rickshaw. In the training, the presentation of the programme included video clippings of people spitting on roads and throwing garbage around the city making auto- rickshaw drivers release their mistakes. Haji Arafat Shaikh also spoke about the number of death cases caused due to chewing tobacco and gutkha.
Subhash Shirke, auto driver from Sion who attended the training says, “ At the training, we have realized our mistake. It is everyone';s responsibility to keepour city clean. From today onwards,I will carry a small dustbin in my rickshaw and will ensure that me and my passenger don’t litter on city road.”
Priya Nagpal, student traveling in Kurla says, “Thesetrainings are very much required. I have seen drivers spiting and spoiling the city look. This will create awareness which will not just keep our city clean, but by not chewing Gutkha and Tobacco it might save life of many addicts.”
Haji Arafat Shaikh, Shiv Vahatook Sena President said, “ Many of the auto drivers lack discipline. We are in a continuous process to teach them manners to behave with the passengers and the importance of cleanliness. I firmly believe, if each one of us takes the efforts to educate even a single person on ‘Clean India’ mission our city will be transformed.”
