Dhaka court issues arrest warrant against Khaleda Zia Updated on : 27-02-2015 11:18 AM In Bangladesh, a Dhaka court has issued an arrest warrant against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and two others in Zia Orphanage and Zia Charitable Trust graft cases. Judge Mohammad Abu Ahmed Jomadar of Special Court passed the order on Wednesday. Khaleda Zia did not attend the court proceedings citing security reasons. The Supreme Court in November, 2014 had cleared the way for the lower court to continue the trial proceedings against Khaleda Zia by rejecting her two appeals challenging the High Court decisions regarding acceptance of charges framed against her. Zia and 3 others stand charged of misappropriating over 3.5 crore Takas (Bangladeshi currency) from the Zia Charitable Trust. If found guilty the BNP Chairperson can land in jail.
