Army helicopter crashes in J&K's Bandipora district

In Jammu and Kashmir, an army helicopter crashed in a forest area of Bandipora district last evening killing both the pilot and the co-pilot. Defence Ministry spokesman Lt. Col. NN Joshi said, the helicopter, which took off from local helipad on a routine sortie, lost contact after some time when it was flying over Safapora heights, and it crashed near Saderkote area.

He said, rescue teams were rushed to the area immediately and bodies of both the pilots were recovered. Army Authorities are expected to order a formal inquiry soon after ascertaining the preliminary report on the circumstances which led to the crash.
