Earlier, in the morning, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan warned that disciplinary action will be taken if the members display placards in the House. She urged the members to observe Parliamentary decorum. But her warning had no effect on the agitating members. Defying her warning, the Congress-led opposition members again trooped into the well displaying placards which called for the resignations of Ms Swaraj and the Chief Ministers of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Members belonging to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi displayed placards demanding a separate High Court for Telangana. The Rajya Sabha, which witnessed four adjournments on Lalit Modi issue, was adjourned for the day. The issue rocked proceedings for the second day today.
Congress has said, resignation of the External Affairs Minister is necessary to ensure smooth functioning of Parliament. Talking to reporters outside Parliament, party senior leader Mani Shankar Aiyar said, Prime Minister must immediately sack her as she helped fugitive Lalit Modi who is evading the law.
Mr Aiyar said, if Sushma Swaraj will not tender her resignation then it is impossible that Parliament will be able to transact any business. He said that Mrs Swaraj misused her office and she has no right to remain in office.
