Invites you for the official announcement for
 ';Jeevika 2015: 12th Asia Livelihood Documentary Film Festival';
At Press Club of India, 1 Raisina Road, New Delhi 110001

A lack of livelihood freedom exacerbates the daily struggle of the poor to make ends meet. The informal sector in India employs 83.6% of people outside of the agricultural sector (and an even higher share in agriculture) and produces half of all output. Yet the regulatory environment for it is counterproductively restrictive. Street vendors, rickshaw drivers, small eatery owners, and the like encounter requirements to obtain a license -- with insufficient license quotas, crippling bureaucracy, and often high licensing fees. For those who fall outside the quota or fail to navigate the red tape, every workday includes bribes, raids by authorities, evictions, confiscations and fines.
Jeevika strives to bring the issues of these people to light, and give a voice to those who explore solutions to increasing livelihood freedom. For more detail visit www.jeevika.org

About Centre for Civil Society
Centre for Civil Society advances social change through public policy. Our work in education, livelihood, and policy training promotes choice and accountability across private and public sectors. To translate policy into practice, we engage with policy and opinion leaders through research, pilot projects and advocacy. We are India’s leading liberal think tank, ranked 50 worldwide by the annual study conducted by the Think Tanks and Civil Society Program at the University of Pennsylvania.
CCS envisions a world where each individual leads a life of choice in personal, economic and political spheres and every institution is accountable. We successfully campaigned for livelihood freedom for street entrepreneurs, resulting in the passing of the Street Vendors (Regulation and Protection of Livelihood Act in March 2014. Our School Choice Campaign popularised the instrument of school vouchers in education, increasing choice and access to quality education for all.
