Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal drops out of presidential race
Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal has decided to drop out of the presidential race. “This is not my time,” Jindal told Fox’s Special Report on Tuesday, calling the 2016 election “unpredictable.”
“I came here to announce that I’m suspending my campaign for president of the United States,” Jindal said. The governor launched his campaign in June, focusing on the early voting state of Iowa and appealing to the GOP’s evangelical wing. However, he failed to gain traction with the conservative base against more popular candidates such as Donald Trump and Ben Carson, and did not earn high enough poll numbers to appear on the main debate stages.
