MEET THE SPEAKERS 2016: JUMPSTART goes to School

New Delhi 2-3 August 2016
Bangalore 6 August 2016
Having established itself as a creative forum  for creators of children's content over the past seven editions Jumpstart has always been peeping in through the windowpanes of the classroom and has occasionally sneaked into the Library. This time it marches in through the school gates...but without the regulation uniform, still telling stories, still asking questions, tie purposefully askew. In Jumpstart 2016 we travel along the wide and deep interface between education in school and children's content. Just as school pedagogy itself represents a spectrum of practices... ( does it ?) children's content, in the broadest sense, is presenting the same diversity ... (is it?) This year's Jumpstart theme hums a triad. We explore different registers where content and education make music together to create learning opportunities for children. Where do the content creators stand in this orchestra? Techno, fusion, rap and classical, all performers  welcome!
The prelude of the thinkfest asks the most primary questions. What do children like? How do they learn? How do we get Better Outcomes in Education? How to content creators nurture a democracy of opportunity within the system which recognizes the inherent diversity among children?  What can we do to encourage madly creative content that delights and educates?
The major chord thrums as it explores the idea  of Innovation in Education. What are the evolving pedagogies in classrooms and is the content moving in step with them? How are language and science classrooms different today? What are publishers doing differently in new ecosystems of learning?  Are new products being designed differently?Has technology influenced design itself? Are new formats transforming content creation and delivery or not? And most importantly, are children learning better because of this?
We conclude on the augmented note of A Re-imagined Future. How is the present shaping the future? What are the new notes in ideas and products?  How are start-ups jamming with VC to create melodies hitherto unheard?
In 2 days in Delhi on 2-3 August and a day in Bangalore on 6 August, we will seek answers to many questions that will ignite ideas about the future of educational content in the framework of teaching-learning transactions in India.
We’re happy to introduce the first batch of speakers whom you will meet at JUMPSTART 2016 in New Delhi and Bangalore. Over the next few weeks, we’ll share with you the ideas that the speakers would like to present, discuss and develop at the upcoming JUMPSTART festival. Watch this space for more:
