Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has reached Guwahati to take stock of the situation as 19 lakh people are reeling under flood in 22 districts of Assam.
Official sources said that the Minister will conduct an aerial survey of Nagaon, Morigaon and Kaziranga. He will also be visiting Bhagatgaon camp in Morigaon district.
Chief Minister Sarbanand Sonowal and Chief Secretary will also accompany him.
The Home Minister will also hold a meeting with Chief Minister and state government officials in Guwahati.
AIR Correspondent reports that nearly five lakh displaced people have taken shelter at relief camps.
Meanwhile, overall flood situation slightly improved today except Dhubri and South Salmara.
CEO of state disaster management authority Dipak Sarma said that most of the rivers are showing a receding trend.
Mr. Sarma however said that the Brahmaputra is flowing above normal in Guwahati.
