Run for less & under privileged Children organised today on the occasion of Children’s Day by PRAYAS.
·                   On children's day, Prayas celebrated the 29th Anniversary coinciding with 6th 'Run for Children' at Vinay Marg adjacent Nehru Park  in Chanakyapuri, Delhi.
·                     More than 5,000 children participated
·                     Depty Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia, Bollywood Actor Randeep Hooda, Television and film actor Adil Hussain, Commissioner of Police Mr. Alok Kumar Verma and many other personalities graced the occasion to encourage the kids.
New Delhi, 14th November, 2016. On the occasion of Children’s Day, more than 5000 kids from different schools of Delhi and 1,000 underprivileged children participated in a massive Children Marathon today to build awareness about Right of Children. “Run for less & under privileged Children” was organized under the aegis of one of India’s largest non-profit organization Prayas.
Depty Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia, Bollywood Actor Randeep Hooda, Television and film actor Adil Hussain, Commissioner of Police Mr. Alok Kumar Verma and Mr Amod K Kanth, General Secretary of Prayas were amongst many other prominent personalities graced the occasion to encourage the kids.
On this occassion Manish Sisodia, Depty Chief Minister of  Delhi said that there is a need to start national awareness campaign for child rights and his Government will fully cooperate and will give full support to PRAYAS. 
Mr.Alok Kumar Verma, Commissioner of Police (Delhi) said that PRAYAS is doing good efforts for the welfare of  children, especially underprivileged children. 
Mr Amod K Kanth, General Secretary of Prayas and former Chairman of Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights, said: “As we celebrate Children’s Day on 14th November, ‘ Run for Children’ is a wonderful chance to not just experience the pleasure of running4 kilometers with the children from underprivileged segments of our society and from various schools, but also support their demand for Rights of Children. Prayas has got together Corporate Houses, celebrities and other important personalities for this noble cause through this ‘Run for Children’.”
The ‘Run for Children’ started at 7:30 am from Central Secretariat Ground, Vinay Marg Chanakya Puri (adjacent to Nehru Park), proceeding to Hyatt Hotel, Via Leela Palace. The return lap was   through Hyatt Hotel, taking a U-turn from Mahatma Gandhi Flyover before terminating at Central Secretariat Ground.
Groups of School children joined the homeless, working, destitute and other less privileged and Special children to run a short marathon from Secretariat Ground to Leila Hotel and back on the same route. Celebrities, VIPS,  Politicians, Corporates, top cops , Govt officials and representatives of NGOs flagged off the kids whose massive presence and  electrifying enthusiasm has become the hall mark of the Children's Day in the capital next only to Bal Diwas function.
Four hour long celebration started with a 4 km long Run of the more than 4,000 children belonging from different strata of society in the age group of 10- 18 divided in four groups followed by cultural programmes presented by various Projects of Prayas, different NGOs, Public and Government Schools.
On this occasion, Shree Amod kanth said that Prayas Juvenile Aid Centre Society, which was born out of the dire need of the marginalized children in 1988 is completing twenty seven years of its existence on November 14, 2015. Prayas JAC Society is a national level humanitarian, gender sensitive and Child focused development organization operating 242 Centers including 52 Vocational Training Centers, 46 Homes/Shelters, Health, Education & other projects for children etc. across the country in 09 States/UTs directly serving about 50,000 beneficiaries. The organization serves over 15,000 marginalized children and 25,000 youth and women addressing the multiple issues and programs relating to child protection and juvenile justice, trafficking of children and women, vocational and life skills training, empowering women through Self-Help Groups and Income Generation Programmes, promotion of entrepreneurship, facilitating credit through bank linkages and also direct micro finance operations.
