New Delhi, Nov 18 2016: ProSportify, the organisers of Pro Wrestling League today hosted its first public round table discussion in New Delhi. Industry leaders from the field of sports, art, culture corporate and media gathered today for a freewheeling discussion of how innovation has become the core driver of growth.Present among the speakers were, Shri VN Prasood, General Secretary, Wrestling Federation of India, Mr. Goldie Behl, Filmmaker and VFX Pioneer, Co-Owner Haryana Hammers, Mr. Saba Karim, Former Indian Cricketer and Mr. Anurag Batra, Chairman & Editor In Chief, Businessworld, Hemanshu Chaturvedi, Sports Guru- HTC Sense. The session also saw some real time experiences straight from mat to dias shared by 2016 Olympic medalist Marwa Amri from Tunis and Commonwealth Gold Medalist Yana Rattigan who travelled all the way to be part of this initiative.Speakers exchanged views on advances in technology and innovation adopted by various small and big organisations to sustain in the competitive environment and grow eventually. Representatives from professional bodies and corporate houses contributed to the discussion by sharing examples from their own industry and meaningful insights about the need to innovate in their businesses.Opening the discussions, VN Prasood, Secretary WFI commented, “We as an association are here to improve the standards of wrestling. Be it a small town, district or a state, training methods needs to be improvised for promoting the game and taking it to the next level.”“Speaking of the most important factor of any sport is its sportsman. You can be a good player, a passionate player but for any sport to grow everyone with love for sport needs to be involved in some or the other way. Sports is a feasible career option and with the current eco system, there are too many opportunities, “said Goldie Behl.Former Indian Cricketer Saba Karim however raised a very important question that we talk about innovation, growth and much about sports in India but what is the ultimate game plan or measures that we need to implement. Do we need to extend the league time period? This is what needs to be thought about.“But surely PWL is one of the leagues that has and will continue to be a platform for the wrestlers across the globe to showcase their talent, “added Saba Karim.Present to grace the occasion were 2016 Bronze Olympic Medalist Marwa Amri from Tunis and 2014 Commonwealth Gold Medalist Yana Rattigan. They both spoke about how excited they are to be part of PWL. Yana who was with team Punjab last season is looking forward to another exciting season. Marwa who visited India for the first time has already submitted her entry for the PWL S2 auctions & has expressed her eagerness to participate in PWL with fellow wrestlers. She was humbled that she was finally invited to PWL 2. “I feel great to be part of such exciting tournament. I thank each one in PWL for extending me an invitation. This is the biggest event for wrestling and I am all set to be wrestling in India.”Yana Rattigan said, “PWL has excited a lot of International wrestlers. They who could not make it last year because of preparations for Olympics are willing to be part of PWL this year and do not want to miss this opportunity . PWL is a much talked about wrestling event outside India. We are happy to see so many medalists and world champions to be part of PWL.”Yana and Marwa are visiting India for Geeta Phogat’s wedding and they are excited to witness the first Indian wedding and dance to the wedding tunes.Anurag Batra, Chairman & Editor In Chief, Businessworld however added how any league to grow and sustain should support the ecosystem. “For any league or sport to grow in the country we need to have a long term horizon. Tables cannot turn soon as it takes time for things to develop and create an impact. Innovation will happen when we stay committed to the growth of the game.”
