CAIT CONGRATULATES GOVERNMENT OF INDIA
ON LAUNCH OF BHARAT QR

New Delhi: The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), a New Delhi based India's apex trader body, issued congratulations to the Government of India on issuance of Bharat QR today. In its efforts of promoting digitization and adoption of digital payments, CAIT along with its technology partner Mastercard has been promoting wider benefits of electronic payments for the last 2 years. Bharat QR follows GOI's mass awareness campaign of boosting digital payments after its move of remonetisation was announced in November last year.

Speaking for this initiative, Mr. Praveen Khandelwal, Secretary General, CAIT said, "We are pleased to see Bharat QR becoming a reality today. All stakeholders who have contributed to making this possible including the Reserve Bank of India deserve special mention. We began feeling its need when we adopted the charter to promote digital payments and this was a critical part of our outreach to the government that interoperability will largely drive numbers who start accepting digital payments. This suggestion was also put forward as a part of CAIT's Less Cash Roadmap and every subsequent communication to policy makers."

CAIT also announced recently that it will embark on an acceptance campaign wherein benefits, tools and KYC required to on-board digital payments will be promoted. This gels well with its another charter on promoting awareness about GST scheduled to be launched this year and how integral is it for modern day trader/retailer to use technology for his/her business.
