Women’s Call for Action against Manuvad and Hindutva

MEDIA INVITE
CHALO NAGPUR!
Women’s Call for Action against Manuvad and Hindutva

On 10th March 2017, the remembrance day of Savitri Bai Phule, thousands of women will gather in Nagpur, in a powerful show of strength against forces of Manuvad and Hindutva.

The context for this event is one in which the walls of inequality and hate are growing high and stifling the expression of humanity. Voices raised against communalism, feudalism, casteism and patriarchy are being stamped out. It is critical to assert today that whether our identity is linked to caste, religion, community, sexuality, gender, disability, occupation or age, every citizen of this country should have access to their constitutionally guaranteed rights.

Chalo Nagpur is conceived, organized and funded by hundreds of individual women.

We are holding a press conference to brief the media about the program. Vani Subramanian, Anita Ghai, Pushpa Vivek, Shabnam Hashmi and Mariya Salim will address the press conference.

Date: 7 March, 2017
Place: IWPC, Windsor Place, New Delhi
Time: 3pm
We request you to depute a reporter/ camera person/ crew to cover the press conference.

Yours sincerely

166 people including 18 security personnel were killed and several others injured on November 26, 2008, when ten Pakistani terrorists arrived by sea route and opened fire indiscriminately. Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, the Oberoi Trident, the Taj Mahal Palace and Tower, Leopold Cafe, Cama Hospital, the Jewish community centre were some of the places targeted by the terrorists. Montreal Protocol led nations to play vital role for meeting the task of phasing out of production and consumption of the Oz depleting substances ODSs. Countries across world thus making all efforts for early recovery of the Oz layer to the Pre-1980 level and save the planet from lethal Ultra violet-B radiations. when India and China has such wonderful report of growth by  Noted American economist Steve H Hanke has described India’s economic growth for 2016-17 as solid. Hanke, who is an American applied economist at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, said this in a tweet.
He said, India’s growth seems to be solid as it ignores the adverse effect of demonetization on the massive informal economy. The Indian government had last month pegged GDP growth at a higher-than-expected 7.1 per cent for the current fiscal despite note ban. The Central Statistics Office (CSO) had put the growth rate for October-December in 2016 at 7 percent. During this quarter government banned 86 per cent of the currency in circulation. The growth rate was 7.4 percent in second quarter and 7.2 percent in first quarter.
India’s growth was higher than China’s 6.8 per cent for the October-December period of 2016.
The growth numbers were better than those projected by the RBI at 6.9 per cent and international agencies like IMF at 6.6 per cent, OECD at 7 per cent in view of demonetisation.
The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development OECD had in February last year projected the country’s economy to expand at 7.4 per cent in 2016-17. Encouraged by higher-than-expected GDP growth, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has also said a 7 per cent expansion in
third quarter belies exaggerated claims of note ban impact on rural economy.
India having ratified the Montreal Protocol has met all obligations with cooperation of technical and financial assistance from Montreal Protocol.
HCFC Phase Out Management Plan stage -II implementation needs to be complied as per targets and schedule laid out thus in this endeavor all the key stake holders are meeting to work out consensus approach.
