Athletics, Bharat Inder Singh received India its first medal after 30 years in decathlon, a combined event, as the Indian contingent bagged three Bronze medals on the second day of the 19th Asian Championships in Kobe Japan.Bharat, after the Javelin Throw event, was in the running of the coveted yellow metal but his not-so-impressive performance in the 1,500 metre race cost him dearly as he settled for the third place with 7,358 points.
The Gold went to Iran's Hadi Sepehrzad while Akihiko Nakamura of Japan bagged the Silver.Other two bronze medals for India came in Discus Throw and 1,500 metres race, both in the Women's category. In Discus Throw, Harwant Kaur touched 57.99 metres to take the third position. China claimed the top two positions in this event. Sun Taifeng clinched the Gold while Ma Xuejun won the Silver.
Middle distance runner OP Jaisha clocked 4 minutes 21.41 seconds as she ended third, behind Vietnam's Thanh Hang Trouong, who finished second. Brunei's Genzeb Regassa won the Gold in this 1,500 metre race.
