Egypt Tourism is back to stability and all set to rest all the concern for safety and security of tourists in the country post democratic political movements. Tourism contributes to Egypt’s economy in a big way. Therefore it is critical that the tourism offices the world over gear up to address the concerns of prospective travelers to the country. This was informed by Mr. Adel El Masry, Director Egyptian Tourism, Office in Mumbai who is participating in India’s leading exhibition for the travel & tourism industry, Pacific Asia Travel Association – PATA Travel Mart 2011 from 6th to 9th September 2011 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.



Commenting on their participation, H.E. Khaled El Bakly, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt in India, said, “We are very happy to participate in this Travel Mart since its a platform for us to showcase our Country and discuss with people the initiatives that we have undertaken to make Egypt a peaceful country worth visiting post the revolution. India has tremendous potential as far as tourism is concerned and we are confident that this participation will ensure good visibility for Egypt among the Indian people who love to travel. At this juncture, security of the travelers is our main concern . Through such participations in travel fairs, we would like to invite travelers across the globe to visit our Country and feel its exotic and vibrant features.”

Mr. Adel El Masry, Director of Egypt Tourism, India said, “For Egypt, India is the most favored tourism market and we are always looking for opportunities to bring to the Indian outbound tourist the jewels of Egypt. Leading travel fairs like PATA provide us best platform to promote Egypt and its myriad attractions especially after the democratic political movement aimed at the development of the institutional frameworks of the state, and a democratic society in Egypt. We will be focusing on leisure destination for tourist that includes This year our focus is to promote Egypt’s MICE destinations such as Cairo, Luxor, Sharm El Sheikh and luxury places for travelers such as El Gouna beaches and the famous Nile Cruise”

Talking about tourism industry in Egypt Mr. Masry said, “Tourism is an industry that is crucial to the health of the wider Egyptian economy, providing direct and indirect employment to 12.6 percent of the workforce & after foreign direct investment; it is the country’s largest source of foreign revenue. Now since the situation is normal, we are expecting an increase in the number of tourist arrivals. We have taken several measures to ensure the rise in footfall of tourist. Egypt has been welcoming the tourists from all over the world and has been increasing their attention with increase in the frequency of flights with the support of Egypt Air which will be 5 flights every week to and from India in October. Egypt Air has already doubled the baggage allowance for all its international and domestic travellers. The internal transportation and cruise travel will be facilitating the travellers during their stay in Egypt along with the hospitality of the country”.
