In Uttar Pradesh, the Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested three senior officers of state government including two former Director General of Family Welfare department and General Manager of Jal Nigam following raids in connection with National Rural Health Mission scam.
Official Lucknow correspondent reports that the investigation agency has recovered relevant documents and huge cash from their residences.
CBI had registered eight FIRs in connection with the NRHM scam. CBI conducted searches at 60 places yesterday, including Lucknow, Delhi , Kanpur , Banda, NOIDA, Moradabad , Amethi and Ghaziabad.
The residence of former UP Minister of Family Welfare, Babu Singh Kushwaha in Lucknow was also raided.
Kushwaha has been named as an accused in one of the FIRs with 50 others, including government officials registered against the NRHM officials and private companies.
They have been charged with criminal misconduct and abuse of office. The CBI has been investigating the case after a direction from the Allahabad High Court in November last year.
On the direction of the Allahabad High Court the CBI is also probing the murders of two CMOs and a Deputy CMO who are allegedly linked to the scam.
