'Kalinga Chair' award to Prof Trinh Xuan Thuan of Vietnam

Eminent scientist, Professor Trinh Xuan Thuan of Vietnam has been conferred with the prestigious 'Kalinga Chair' award at the 99th Indian Science Congress being held in Bhubaneswar.
Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik, gave away the award marking 60th anniversary of the prestigious UNESCO Kalinga Prize.


The award was given by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in association with Bhubaneswar based Kalinga Foundation Trust and Union Ministry of Human Resources Development and Department of Science and Technology.

Kalinga Chair is awarded to one among the winners of the UNESCO Kalinga Prize and was introduced by the Central Government to mark the 50th anniversary of Kalinga Prize.Thuan was winner of the UNESCO Kalinga Prize in 2009.Eleven former winners of the coveted UNESCO Kalinga Prize were also felicitated by Naveen Patnaik at the function.
