India Acquiring Weather Re-Connaissance Aircraft to Ensure better Cyclone Forecasting - NDMA Vice Chairman

One of the major recommendations made by NDMA in the National Guidelines of Management of Cyclones was the establishment of the Aircraft Probing of Cyclones facility to significantly reduce errors to the extent of 30% in terms of landfall, intensity and storm surge. Govt. of India is taking steps to acquire a Hercules C-130J for this purpose alongwith an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). With this capability all, all countries of the Indian Ocean Region would also be able to benefit greatly. This was stated by Shri Shashidhar Reddy, Vice Chairman, NDMA during his meeting with Delegation from Madagascar headed by Mr Razakanaivo Mamy Nirina, Head of the Disaster Prevention and Emergency Management Unit, Prime Minister’s Office (CPGU), Madagascar in New Delhi today. Shri Reddy also informed that traditionally there is a very good response mechanism in place. There was a evacuation of more than 6.5 lakhs people when a cyclone hit in Andhra Pradesh in 1990 which was till date the highest ever human evacuation in the context of the natural disaster. Shri Reddy explained to them some of the salient features of the National Guidelines for the Management of Floods, Cyclones and Urban Flooding. He also informed, it is for the first time NDMA has decided to address Urban Flooding as a separate disaster de-linking it from floods which affect a large tracks of rural area besides “scientific and technological innovations will greatly improve disaster management capabilities of any country”, said Shri Reddy. He further informed that the NDMA is implementing the National Cyclone Risk Mitigation Project in 13 cyclone prone coastal States/UTs in India with a view to address the Cyclone risks in the country. For this Government of India has drawn up the Project with the assistance of World Bank with a view to address the Cyclone risks in the country. The main objective of the Project is to strengthen the structural and non-structural cyclone mitigation efforts to reduce the cyclone risk and vulnerability in the coastal districts prone to cyclones and in building capacities for cyclone risk mitigation there. The project also aims to promote a culture of sustainability through efforts towards conservation of coastal eco systems. The Phase I of the Project is being implemented in the States of Andhra Pradesh and Orissa at a cost of Rs. 1496.71 crores. This Project will look at last mile connectivity which is extremely important. On the response side, India will have 12 Bns of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) which will be equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and trained manpower to deal with not only with all kinds of natural disasters but also with Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) emergencies. This is a unique force totally dedicated to disaster management which also take up community sensitization during non disaster time. India has vastly improved its preparedness over the years to deal with disasters like Cyclone, Floods and Tsunami. Shri Reddy cited the establishment of the Indian Ocean Tsunami Early Warning System at INCOIS, Hyderabad which is a state- of-the-art facility set up in 2007. There has been worldwide acknowledgement for the accuracy of the forecast coming out from it. The Delegation from Madagascar is on a Study tour to learn from Indian experience to deal with Cyclones and other natural disasters. The visit was held within the South-South Cooperation Framework and was part of the GFDRR through the World Bank, a funded program in Madagascar for mainstreaming climate risk and disaster into economic development.

RBI to meet bankers tomorrow on NPAs

Reserve Bank Deputy Governor K C Chakrabarty will meet top bankers on Wednesday to discuss the rising non-performing assets(NPAs) in the system.

The senior most deputy governor would meet the bankers at the RBI headquarters on Wednesday afternoon, an RBI official said in Mumbai on Tuesday.

Governor D Subbarao had announced that the regulator would be meeting bank chiefs to take stock of the rising NPAs which had hit banks' bottom lines in the third quarter.

The RBI has since maintained that the situation was manageable and it was not a systemic issue.

The rising NPAs have been blamed on elevated interest rates (RBI increased its key rates a record 13 times for 19 months till October 2011), slackening pace of economic growth and the migration to system-based generation of NPAs at many state-owned lenders.

As a result, most of state-run banks have been forced to almost double their provisioning with sectors like aviation (Rs 90,000 crore in debt, a large part of which is bad assets - Air India over Rs 67,000 crore, Kingfisher over Rs 10,000 crore in NPAs), textiles and power which have a debt of Rs 1 trillion each, telecom has nearly Rs 17,000 crore of bad loan from GTL, and heavy debt running into another trillion (RCom alone has over Rs 33,000 crore in debt).

Ford launches automatic variant of Fiesta

Carmaker Ford India on Tuesday launched an automatic transmission variant in petrol mode of its sedan Fiesta, priced between Rs 8.99 lakh and Rs 9.70 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

"The all new Fiesta powershift automatic will further open up this segment. This new variant comes with a very affordable pricing and better fuel efficiency than the manual one," Ford India President and MD Michael Boneham told reporters in Delhi.

This new product is a part of the company's plans to introduce eight new models in India by 2015.

The existing prices of the manual petrol variant of the new Fiesta varies from Rs 8.25 lakh to Rs 9.44 lakh. The diesel variant of the manual transmission is priced at Rs 9.28 lakh to Rs 10.43 lakh (ex showroom Delhi).

Virat Kohli blasted an unbeaten 133 as India snatched an incredible victory against Sri Lanka by chasing down a mammoth 321 in only 36.4 overs to rekindle their hopes of making it to the final of the cricket tri-series, at Hobart on Tuesday.  Needing to win the crucial game in 40 overs in order to get a bonus point and stay afloat, the beleaguered Indians pulled off a sensational victory when it mattered the most riding on Kohli's breathtaking assault and useful contributions from all the other top-order batsmen. Put into bat, Sri Lanka posted a mammoth 320 built around Tillekaratne Dilshan's career-best 160 not out and Kumar Sangakkara's 105 but Indians left the islanders stunned by achieving the target with 80 balls to spare amd more importanly inside the required 40 overs. They maintained an unbelievable run-rate of 8.75 runs per over throughout the chase. Kohli smashed 16 boundaries and two sixes during his whirlwind 86-ball knock. He completed his ninth ODI ton and his second against Sri Lanka in 76 balls. India will now have to await the result of the last league match between Australia and Sri Lanka to know their fate. They will qualify to the finals only if Australia beat Sri Lanka in the last league game. Australia, who are already through to the finals are leading the table with 19 points while Sri Lanka and India are tied on 15 points with the latter haviung completed their league engagements. Much as Kohli deserves to be applauded, no less critical roles were played by openers Virender Sehwag (30, 16 balls, 5x4, 1x6) and Sachin Tendulkar (39, 30 balls, 5x4) as well as the two subsequent batsmen, Gautam Gambhir (63, 64 balls, 4x4) and Suresh Raina (40, 24 balls, 3x4, 1x6). Kohli shared two century stands - 115 runs off 109 balls with Gambhir and then of 120 from only 55 balls with Raina. India always kept themselves in tune with the required run-rate of eight per over, reaching 160/2 in 20 overs; being 230/3 in the 30th over and the final 91 runs came off only 40 balls. Sehwag and Tendulkar began belligerently and 50 runs came in the first six overs itself. The floodgates opened in the second over from Kulasekara when Sehwag lofted him over mid-off. Sehwag then square drove the medium-pacer and didn't spare Lasith Malinga either. Twice bludgeoning him past midwicket and once lofting him over square leg for a six. Tendulkar wasn't a slouch either. He twice square drove Kulasekara to fence and once smashing Malinga through covers. The introduction of Ferveez Maharoof cost India their first wicket. Sehwag once pulled him over mid-on for four but in trying to do an encore, he was caught by Dilshan for 30 runs. Sehwag faced only 16 balls and faced five fours and a six. Tendulkar, at the other end, still looked to attack, lofting Maharoof and Malinga for a four each. But in order to glide a stump-delivery from Malinga past fine leg, he was adjudged leg before wicket by umpire Simon Taufel. With a licence to go for their shots, Gautam Gambhir too lost little time in attacking the bowlers. He slashed Kulasekara past point and then walked out to lift him between mid-on and midwicket. He once edged Malinga between slips for four as the 100 of the innings was up in the 11th over. The next few overs were one of consolidation. Gambhir and Kohli rotated the strikes at will and there were a few boundary hits to go with it. Sri Lanka delayed the bowling Powerplay but India's run-rate was unaffected. The 150 of the innings came in the 19th over with a massive six over mid-off by Kohli against Angelo Mathews. India was 160 for 2 after 20 overs, requiring exactly the same equation in the final 20 overs. Gambhir soon completed his half century off 47 balls with five fours. Kohli completed his own in the next over, made off 44 balls with three fours and a six. The century stand between the two came in the 25th over. India now needed 131 runs from 15 overs, to claim the bonus point. The batting Powerplay was claimed in the 28th over, India being 199 for 2 at this stage. India lost Gambhir at this stage, run out for 63 off 64 balls with four fours. India's scoring had dropped between 25th and 29th over when only 24 runs came from four overs. The 30th over, bowled by Lasith Malinga, again brought a spurt in scoring. Fifteen runs came off this over and India now needed 91 runs from the final 10 overs with seven wickets in hand. Next over from Kulasekara yielded 18 runs, including four fours, and India were now sprinting towards victory with bonus point. The bowling Powerplay yielded 58 runs. Now aware that the momentum was with them, India opted for batting Powerplay in the 33rd over, as soon as the bowling Powerplay ended. The match was as good as over when Malinga conceded 24 runs in the 35th over, bringing down the equation to only 18 runs from next 30 balls. Earlier, Dilshan equalled his career-best score with an unbeaten 160, his 11th century in his 230th ODI and first in a year, while Sangakkara made a quickfire 105 to register the 13th century of his career. Sent into bat, Dilshan anchored Sri Lanka's innings and hit 11 fours and three huge sixes during his 165-ball unbeaten stay. Sangakkara, on the other hand, was at his destructive best, piling up his 105 runs off just 87 balls with eight boundaries and two huge hits over the fence. Dilshan and Sangakkara got together after the 12th over and maneuvered the score till the 44th over, putting together exactly 200 runs for the second wicket, the biggest stand of the series so far. In with an outside chance to book a place in the best of three final of the series, Mahendra Singh Dhoni had no hestitation in bowling first after winning the toss, as India needed to chase down Sri Lanka's target inside 40 overs to avail a bonus point and stay afloat in the competition. The Lankans got off to a decent start with captain Mahela Jayawardene and Dilshan putting together 49 runs for the first wicket before the former was holed out by Virender Sehwag in the slip off Ravindra Jadeja. The dismissal forced Dilshan and new man Sangakkara to slow down as they raised their scores mostly in ones and twos with occasional hits in between to raise up the team's 100 in the 22nd over.

NOIDA, February 28: Three birdies in her last three holes saw Sharmila Nicollet get into a share of the lead with Nalini Singh Siwach as both shot two-under 70 in the first round of the 12^th leg f the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour. Veteran Smriti Mehra lurked just one shot behind them at 71.

Japan’s Mika Ikemura playing for the first time on an Indian domestic Tour event shot 73 and was placed fourth, one shot ahead of Meghna Bal (74) and Neha Tripathi was lying sixth at 76.

Sharmila had a slow beginning with one birdie on the par-5 third hole, but she bogeyed the fourth and seventh to turn in one-over. On the back nine she birdied the 11^th to come to even par but again dropped a shot on par-5 13^th. Then she had a grandstand finish with three birdies in a row from16th to 18^th and ended the day at 70.

Nalini had a bogeyfree opening nine with two birdies and rest pars. On the back nine she gave away a shot on 10^th, but quickly got it back on 13^th and added yet another birdie on 15^th to go to three-under. But she lost the chance to be in sole lead as she bogeyed the 18^th and ended at 70.

Smriti opened with a double bogey on first and had another bogey on fourth to be three-over at that stage. She recovered very well with birdies on fifth, sixth and 17^th and had no further bogeys.

Shraddhanjali Singh (77) and Seiko Miyata, the second Japanese player in the field, with 78 were seventh and eighth respectively.

Expert Group for Modernisation of Indian Railways Presents its Report to Minister of Railways
Report Suggests a Total Funding of Rs. 822,671 Crore in Next Five Years
‘Mission Mode’ Approach for Focus Areas Suggested

The Expert Group for Modernisation of Indian Railways, constituted by the Ministry of Railways under the Chairmanship of Shri Sam Pitroada, Advisor to the Prime Minister, presented its report to the Minister of Railways, Shri Dinesh Trivedi, at a function, here today. The purpose of the Expert Group was to recommend ways and means to modernize Indian Railways to meet the challenges of economic growth, the aspirations of the common man, the needs of changing technology and the expanding market while at the same time ensuring adequate focus on addressing social and strategic requirements of the country in consonance with Indian Railways’ national aspirations. Present on the occasion among others were the Minister of State for Railways, Shri Bharatsinh Solanki, Chairman, Railway Board, Shri Vinay Mittal, Board Members and some of the members of the Expert Group. Addressing a gathering on the occasion, Shri Trivedi complemented all members of the Expert Group, especially Shri Pitroda for their invaluable contribution.

The other eminent members of the Expert Group, were Shri Deepak Parekh, Chairman, HDFC Bank, Shri M.S. Verma, former Chairman, State Bank of India, Shri  G. Raghuram, Professor, IIM, Ahmedabad, Dr. Rajiv Lall, MD, IDFC, Shri Vinayak Chatterjee, Chairman, Feedback, Infrastructure Services Limited and Shri Ranjan Jain, Adviser (Infrastructure), Railway Board.

Shri Sam Pitroda made a presentation on the modernisation of Indian Railways through video conferencing from Chicago.

Some of the major recommendations of this Report are as follow:

·         Modernisation of 19,000 kms. of existing tracks.

·         Strengthening of 11,250 bridges to sustain higher load at higher speed.

·         Eliminating all level crossings.

·         Implementation of Automatic Block Signalling on A and B routes.

·         Deployment of on board train protection system with cab signalling on all other routes

·         Introduction of GSM based mobile train control communication system on A, B and C routes.

·         Introduction of new generation locomotives – electric locomotive of 9000 and 12,000 HP and High horse power diesel locomotives of 5,500 HP.

·         Introduction of high speed potential LHB coaches with 160/200 kmph.

·         Introduction of train sets for high speed inter-city travel.

·         Introduction of heavy haul freight bogies.

·         Installation of green toilets on all passenger trains.

·         Modernisation of 100 major stations.

·         Development of 34 multi modal logistics.

·         To set up real time Information System.

·         Provision of internet access at 342 railway stations (58 A1 class and 284 at A class)

·         Development of PPP models and policies in various areas of Railways to attract private investment to augment core capabilities such as stations and terminals, high speed railway lines, elevated rail corridor, private freight terminals, leasing of wagons, loco and coach manufacturing, captive power generation and renewable energy projects.

·         Development of substantial indigenous capabilities to be a global leader, namely in State-of-the-art railway technologies and railway components and equipment for global markets.

·         Establish Indian Institute of Railway Research with Centres of Excellence, develop Indian Standards, critical vendors and protocols fro Railways.

·         The Implementation of ‘Mission Mode’ approach for all 15 focus areas, namely, track and bridges, signalling, rolling stock, stations and terminals PPPs. Land, dedicated freight corridors High Speed Trains, review of existing and proposed projects, ICT, indigenous development, safety, funding, human resource and organisation.

·         Construction of Eastern and Western freight corridors.

·         Construction of North-South, East-West, East-Coast and Southern Dedicated Freight Corridors covering 6,200 kilometres in next ten years.

·         Construction of a High Speed railway line between Ahmedabad and Mumbai with Speed of 300 kmph.

·         To offer graduate programme in Railway technology at IITs and Railway management at IIMs. Also review and restructure of existing training institutions.

·         Re-organising Railway Board along business discipline and reflect Chairman as CEO.

·         Empowering Zonal Railways in investment decision making along with accountability for return on capital, transport output, safety, and profitability.

·         Revamping of accounting systems on business lines and create profit/cost centres.

·         Appointing  a ‘PPP Ombudsman’ to resole disputes.

·         To constitute a Railways Tariff Regulatory Authority to provide a level playing field.

·         Sources of total funding of Rs. 822,671 crore in the next five years will be Rs. 250,000 crore from Gross Budgetary Support, Rs. 201,805 crore from Internal generation, Rs. 101,000 crore from leasing/borrowings, Rs. 229,024 crore from PPPs Rs. 24,000 crore from dividend rebate and Rs. 16,842 crore from Road Safety Fund.

INDIA AND AFGHANISTAN AIR FORCE FOOTBALL TEAM PLAY FRIENDSHIP FOOTBALL MATCH. Air Marshal Naresh Verma today declared open a series of football matches between the Afghanistan Air Force and Indian Air Force Football team at the football ground, New Willingdon Camp,Air Force Station Race Course. Also present were Colonel Masud Satankzai, Defence Attaché Afghanistan and Mr. Bhasheer Ahmed Shareer, Cultural Counsellor Afghan Embassy. The teams will play a series of three matches including one played today which was won by the Indian Air Force (3-0), the other two matches are scheduled for the 29 February and 01 March 2012.IAF is hosting the Afghanistan Air Force football team for its period of stay in India from 25^th February to 03^rd March 2012.Such sports exchanges with friendly foreign countries not only enhance goodwill between the two countries but also forge stronger ties in addition to providing international exposure to the players. Various IAF teams have visited countries like Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, UK in the past and have also  hosted  Pakistan Air Force Cycle Polo team, Royal Air Force Cricket team, Bangladesh Basketball team, RAFO’s (Royal Air Force of Oman) Volleyball team.

Panchayati Raj Minister holds meeting with State Panchayat Ministers

 The Minister of Panchayati Raj held a meeting with Ministers In-charge of Panchayats and Municipalities of the States, State Election Commissioners (SECs) and Secretaries of concerned departments here today. The meeting was organized by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj to share experiences on various aspects of the recommendations of the Task Force constituted by the Ministry to look at the issues of strengthening the institution of the State Election Commission and electoral reform. Almost all Sates were represented in the meeting. Addressing the meeting, the Minister said that the State Government must value the importance of Local Self Governments. He informed that the Panchayat Sashktikaran Abhiyan for the 12th Five Year Plan is under the formulation in the Ministry and this has been approved in principle by the Planning Commission. He said that the Ministry is working out the guidelines to support the State Election Commissions as recommended by the Task Force. He expressed the hope that it would be approved during 2012-13. He further said that such assistance will be available only to the duly constituted and empowered State Election Commissions, as recommended by the Task Force.

During the meeting, the issues discussed related to proper status of SECs, reasonable autonomy to them, availability of sufficient financial powers, funds and manpower to SECs, vesting of powers of Civil Courts on State Election Commissioners, on-line voting, curbing of the practice of paid news carried by print and electronic media etc. There was almost unanimous endorsement of the suggestions and steps to be taken as recommended by the Task Force and the Standing Committee on the SECs for making SCE a sufficiently robust institution to enable it to perform its functions in a more pointed, effective and meaningful manner. The Ministry, on its part, impressed upon the representatives from States to vigorously pursue these suggestions and recommendations to realize the true value and importance of Local Self Governments. The most important action required on the part of the States was identified as the amendment of the respective State Laws/Rules to strengthen the institution of State Election Commission so that the intention of democratic governance at grass-root level enshrined in the Constitution is fully met in its true and effective essence.

The Ministry of Panchayati Raj constituted a Task Force in March 2011 primarily to look at the issues of strengthening the institution of the State Election Commission and electoral reform. The Task Force submitted its report in October 2011 to the ministry and this was shared with the Standing Committee of the State Election Commissioners, who gave their comments in December 2011. The report of the Task Force was accepted subject to the modifications proposed by the Standing Committee. This was also discussed in the conference of the State Election Commissioners held in Kolkata in the first week of January 2012. There had been broad unanimity about the recommendations.

Obama draws criticism for apology on Koran

US President Barack Obama is drawing criticism from Republican presidential hopefuls for apologizing for the burning of Muslim holy books at a US military base in Afghanistan.

Obama sent a letter of apology to Afghan President Hamid Karzai last week, saying measures will be taken to prevent such incidents from happening again.

Republican presidential hopeful Rick Santorum said on ABC television on Sunday that Obama should not have apologized for an act that he says was not intentional.

Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney said in a separate program that the US has made an enormous contribution in Afghanistan to help people achieve freedom, and that Obama's apology is unacceptable.

The burning of the Korans by US soldiers has triggered a wave of angry protests in Afghanistan.

Senior Afghan officials including the defense minister have called off a trip to Washington this week where they were going to discuss the timing of the withdrawal for NATO troops. They say they will instead stay home to deal with the demonstrations.

Karzai calls for calm over Koran burning

Afghan President Hamid Karzai has expressed his understanding of nationwide protests against the burning of the Muslim holy book by US troops. He renewed his calls for calm.Clashes between protestors and police have left 29 people dead and nearly 200 wounded.

Karzai held a news conference in the capital Kabul on Sunday. He said the emotions of Afghan people over the burned Korans are understandable.But he urged Afghans not to align themselves with the Taliban, which is calling for attacks on the US military. He said remaining calm will help stop enemies of Afghan peace and stability from taking advantage of the situation.

A Taliban spokesman claimed responsibility for Saturday's killing of 2 US military officers at the Afghan Interior Ministry, saying the murders were in retaliation for the Koran burning.The ministry is searching for one of its employees as a possible perpetrator.
The incident prompted NATO forces to recall all their officers and troops working as advisers from Afghan ministries for their safety.Media agencies

G20 ask Europe tackle its debt crisis

G20 issues joint statement

Group of 20 finance ministers and central bank chiefs say they won't provide more funds to the IMF unless Europe makes further progress in tackling its debt crisis.The finance leaders released a joint statement after meeting in Mexico City.The statement says the global economy is gradually recovering, and tensions in financial markets are easing. But there is still considerable risk of another downturn.

The G20 members welcome initiatives taken by eurozone countries in dealing with the credit problems. That's in reference to an additional bailout package for Greece finalized last week.
But the statement adds that the lending capacity of the IMF will depend on how much further progress is made.The G20's statement comes ahead of an EU summit set for later this week. European leaders will debate whether to expand their framework for supporting debt-strapped nations.The statement says the G20 will continue discussing the matter before its next meeting in Washington in April.It also notes the new threat posed by rising crude oil prices due to growing tensions with Iran.

 Bank of Japan Governor Masaaki Shirakawa said the G20 made certain progress on IMF funding. He also urged Europe to carry out further reforms.Speaking to reporters in Mexico City, Shirakawa said that in order to settle the credit concerns, the EU needs to steadily carry out reforms in the 3 areas of economy, fiscal policy, and oversight.

Deadly protests Must stop: Clinton

 US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said on Sunday, deadly protests in Afghanistan over the desecration of the holy Quran by US soldiers “must stop”. “We deeply regret the incident that has led to this protest, but we also believe that violence must stop and the hard work for building a more peaceful and secure Afghanistan must continue,” she told a news conference during a visit to the Moroccan capital Rabat.

Clinton said criticism of US President Barack Obama’s apology for the desecration was not helpful. “I find it somewhat troubling that our politics would inflame such a dangerous situation in Afghanistan,” Clinton said of the complaints by Republican presidential candidates and some experts about Obama’s apology. “It was the right thing to do to have our president on record as saying this was not intentional, we deeply regret it,” Clinton said.

 White House said Obama had backed steps by NATO’s commander in Afghanistan to protect US service members there after the killing of two US officers in the Afghan Interior Ministry, and welcomed Afghan President Hamid Karzai’s call for calm in Afghanistan.

Indian hockey keep its date with London,

India played far better  for most part of the match consistently  mounted continuous raids on the rival citadel from the very beginning. India got their first scoring chance as early as in the third minute when they were awarded a penalty corner but Sandeep failed to convert it. Manpreet Singh then came tantalisingly close to giving India the lead in the 16th minute but his reverse shot from top of a very crowded circle was blocked by an agile French goalkeeper Mathias Dierckens.
India dominating scored two goals in a span of two minutes to take control of the game. India finally broke the deadlock in the 17th minute when Lakra scored with a reverse hit after being fed by Manpreet’s cross from the right. Sandeep then made the scoreline 2-0 from India’s second penalty corner following a video referral after Shivendra was brought down inside the French circle. French down 0-2, came up with a stunning field goal just five minutes later when Martin-Brisac beautifully deflected home Sebastien Jean-Jean’s quick cross from the right flank.  France’s joy was shortlived as Sandeep scored his second goal of the match two minutes later from India’s third short corner. First half  had a keen contest between the two teams in penalty corner its  conversion was the order of the day after resumption of play as Sandeep ripped apart the French defence with his precision drag-flicking.
Sandeep game is considered as one of the best penalty corner specialists in the world, converting three consecutive penalty  in a span of fourteen  minutes to ride the match and shape India’s place in the London Olympics.
 Sunil scored a field goal after he was set up by Tushar Khandker and Danish Mujtaba. Raghunath drove the final nail on France’s coffin, converting India’s seventh short corner with a powerful flick to the top of the French goal. Match completely an host affair and India could have won the match by a bigger margin had they not wasted many scoring opportunities that came their way. India stupendously made its entry to London Olympic winning  matches with substantial margins.
 In Olympic qualifiers final  India beat France 8-1, India win in this tournament   proves their mettle.
Sandeep Singh magic play four goals put  India a 5-1 lead against France early in the second half of the final of the six-nation men's Olympic hockey qualifiers in New Delhi.Sandeep Singh carried his good run in the summit clash as he scored his fourth. Sunil scored India's fifth goal in the 43rd minute after as Sandeep completed his hat-trick in the 38th minute soon after the lemon-break. Sandeep scored hat-trick through penalty corners to lead the Indian attack. Team India scored their first goal  by Birendra Lakra's 17th minute thereafter Simon MARTIN-BRISAC scored a stunner in the 23rd minute to put back France in the game.

Hideout of Osama demolished

Pakistani security on Sunday demolishing the compound in the garrison town of Abbottabad,hideout of Osama bin Laden who was killed in a US raid last May. Demolition began late Saturday, continued overnight and bulldozers were busy as dawn broke in Abbottabad’s suburban Bilal Town neighborhood. Witnesses said troops blocked access to the compound, brought in heavy machinery and barred journalists from taking pictures or coming close to the site.

The compound has been under the security forces’ control since bin Laden was killed by US Navy SEALs in a covert helicopter operation without Islamabad’s knowledge.
The al-Qaeda leader lived in the compound for several years with his three wives and nine children including his grandchildren.The Americans buried him at sea, determined no grave should become a memorial to mastermind of the September 11 attacks on New York and Washington, but his home became an object of fascination.
The compound attracted hundreds of visitors daily soon after bin Laden’s death and at the time officials feared his final hiding place could become a shrine or a tourist spot unless the military destroyed it.
But there has been no official comment on why the demolition is being carried out.Reports Dawn

Telecom scam: CBI registers case in BSNL-WiiMax

The CBI on Saturday registered a fresh case in connection with alleged irregularities in awarding BSNL's Wiimax franchise to a private firm, considered close to ex-Telecom Minister A Raja, and carried out searches across four cities.

Nine teams of CBI officials searched the residences of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) officials and the officials of Starnet, the alleged beneficiary which got the franchise,in Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai and Gurgaon, CBI sources said.

The agency has not named Raja in the present case, they said.

It is alleged that Starnet Communication was given letter of intent for the WiiMax franchise of BSNL for its six circles despite the fact that it was not eligible for the same and fudged its balance sheet to grab the deal.

The eligibility conditions stipulated that the company should have a turnover of Rs 100 crore and above which was allegedly achieved by manipulation in the balance sheets by Starnet, the sources said.

The anti-corruption watchdog Central Vigilance Commission has also found alleged irregularities in the allotment of franchise to Starnet.

उदहारण देखिये.....

१-      मूल्य निर्धारण अधिकरण का गठन – इससे बाजार में मिलाने वाली हर वास्तु मूल्य तय हो जायेगा की वह कितने में बिकनी चाहिए, जैसे ५० पैसे की दवा पर मूल्य ५८/- रुपये लिखा है, ये भारत की जनता के साथ धोखा है, ७० रुपये के सीमेंट की बोरी ३०० रुपये के आस पास बिकती है, १००० रुपये का कोयला ९५०० रुपये टन बिकता है, इसमे कुछ करने की जरुरत नहीं सिर्फ १०००००० लोगो को नया रोजगार देकर मूल्याकन में लगा दिया जाये... अन्ना ने इस पर कभी चर्चा नहीं की.. भारत २५ करोड के हेलिकाप्टर इटली से ३५० करोड में खरीदता है, ये किसका पैसा है...

२-      अर्थक्रान्ति का प्रस्ताव--- बाबा जि इस पर बहुत जोर दिया है जिसमे ५० रुपये के ऊपर के सभी नोट बंद कर दिए जाये, सभी टैक्स बंद कर दिए जाये, सभी बड़े लेन देन बैंको के द्वारा किये जाये, बैंको में प्राप्त रकम पर मात्र २% का अंतरण टैक्स लगाया जाये, हर गली चौराहे पर बैंकिंग की सुबिधा हो, नगद लेन देन पर कोई टैक्स न हो, ये एक ऐसा कदम जिससे घूसखोरी तुरंत बंद हो जायेगी, और भारत शिखर पर पहुच जायेगा (इसके बारे ज्यादा जानने के लिए अर्थाक्रंती का वीडियो देखे)


३-      कालाधन वापस लाओ—इस मुद्दे पर आज तक अन्ना की टीम ने अपना मत नहीं दिया क्यों की उनको कांग्रेस की भी चिंता है, कालाधन कितना भी हो लेकिन ये इतना है की भारत की तस्वीर बदल जायेगी, असल में अन्ना के आन्दोलन को हाथो हाथ मिडिया द्वारा इसी मुद्दे से जनता का ध्यान भटकाने के लिए लिया गया था. यह भी एक तरह से कांग्रेस की ही डिजाइन थी. भारत के खरबो खरब रुपये विदेशी बैंको में हैं, इस पर अन्ना को समझया भी गया है लेकिन उनका अपना एजेंडा सिर्फ बाबा रामदेव जी को मिडिया से गायब करने में कांग्रेस की मदद करना. लेकिन भारत की जनता ने इसे सकारात्मक रूप से लिए क्योकि वह गहराई में नहीं गई.

४-      क्योकि बाबा रामदेव जी , डा. सुब्रमनियन स्वामी जी के साथ मिलकर एक नए राष्ट्रवादी अपर प्रभावशाली आन्दोलन भूमिका बना चुके है तो अन्ना जि की टीम भी उसकी धार कुंद करने के लिए मिडिया के सहयोग से जल्द से लज्द नए अवतार में सामने आ जायेंगे.


५-      बाबा जी के  हर प्रोग्राम में  भारत की हर टीवी मौजूद  होते हैं लेकिन वे उनका एक भी राष्ट्रवादी व्याख्या नहीं दिखाते है, सिर्फ इस फ़िराक में सुबह से शाम तक हर पल का वीडियो बनाते है की कही कोई ऐसा मुदा मिल जाये जिसे बार बार टीवी पर दिखाकर बाबा जि की छवि धूमिल करके उनके समर्थकों की संख्या कम की जाये , इसके सबसे बड़े मोहरे हैं—अन्ना जी, जिस अन्ना को गलत दवा देने की बात बाबा जी ने टीवी पर कही, उसी अन्ना ने इस बात से इनकार कर दिया.. आप स्वयं सोच सकते है की अन्ना का असल एजेंडा क्या हो सकता है..मै अपने को एक विश्लेषक माँनता हू लेकिन ये विश्लेषण मुझे बहुत कचोटता है की क्या मेरा विश्लेषण सच्चाई के आस पास भी है????

६-      जिस आर एस एस को कांग्रेस गाली देती रही है उस एर एस एस के बारे में मैंने आज तक राष्ट्रवादी अन्ना के मुह एक भी ऐसा शब्द नहीं सुन पाया जो आर एस एस को क्लीन चिट् देता हो जबकि बाबा जि कहा है की आर एस एस कोई आतंकवादी संगठन नहीं है, अन्ना ने क्यों नहीं कहा????
