Dmitry Medvedev visit APEC Summit preparations

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has arrived in the Far Eastern city of Vladivostok to inspect facilities whose construction is underway as Russia is preparing to host an APEC summit in September, the Kremlin reported.
Medvedev will check the condition of infrastructure facilities being built for the forum and will hear a report on the reasons for the recent partial destruction of a regional highway.
The road, built to connect the airport of Vladivostok with Russky Island, which will host the summit, collapsed in June. The work cost 29 billion rubles ($930 million), including 21 billion rubles provided by the Russian government.
The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit will for the first time be held in Russia on September 8-9. Investment in events to prepare for the summit will total about 600 billion rubles ($18.5 billion).
