Embassy of Spain and the Instituto Cervantes in New Delhi cordially invites you to a press conference and a concert on the occasion of the creation of the Centre for Flamenco and Rajasthani Music in Jodhpur.
The Ambassador of Spain, His Excellency, Mr. Gustavo de Arístegui, the Chairman of the Fundacion Cante de las Minas and Mayor of La Unión, Mr. Francisco Bernabe, and Ms. Shivranjani Rajye of Jodhpur will present the project, follow by a special performance by the famous gypsy flamenco artists Antonio Mejías, Antonio Muñoz, Josue Rodriguez, and María Canea, awarded with the prize of the Las Minas Flamenco Festival.

A CENTRE FOR FLAMENCO AND RAJASTHANI MUSIC WILL BE CREATED IN JODHPUR
The Mehrangarh Museum Trust, Fundacion Cante de las Minas, and the Embassy of Spain in India, will sign a Memorandum of Understanding on 13th May 2013 to establish a centre for the study and preservation of the links between Flamenco and Rajasthani music. Rajasthani folklore has an age old relationship with Flamenco through the migration of the gypsy tribes from India. For the first time this relationship will be officially recognized as part of the heritage of both musical traditions.
The Maharaja of Jodhpur, His Highness Gaj Singh II, the Chairman of the Fundacion Cante de las Minas and Mayor of La Unión, Mr. Francisco Bernabe, and the Ambassador of Spain, His Excellency, Mr. Gustavo de Arístegui, will hold a press conference after the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on 13th May 2013 in Jodhpur at Umed Bhawan Palace at 19:00 hours. This event will be followed by a dinner reception and a concert by the famous gypsy flamenco artists Antonio Mejías, Antonio Muñoz, Josue Rodriguez, and María Canea, awarded with the prize of the Las Minas Flamenco Festival. The Las Minas Flamenco Festival is the oldest and most prestigious in the world and as a result of this agreement, there will be a special section for artists from India, in particular those that will receive awards from the Jodhpur Flamenco and Rajasthani Festival.
