PM to launch Doordarshan’s farmer-centric Kisan TV Channel today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch Doordarshan’s farmer-centric Kisan TV Channel today. The 24-hour channel will air information on farmer-related issues. The government has made it a must carry channel making it mandatory for cable and Direct to Home, DTH operators to provide it to their subscribers. Information and Broadcasting Minister Arun Jaitley yesterday said that the channel would become available 24×7 after it is launched and its programmes would be primarily for agriculture sector and rural India. He said, Information related to weather can be very useful.
A review meeting of the preparations for channel’s launch was held in New Delhi on Saturday. Prasar Bharati Chairman Dr A Surya Prakash, Information and Broadcasting Secretary Bimal Julka among other officials were present at the meet.
Prime minister Narendra Modi has said that it is the beginning of the end of bad days for the people as his government is making efforts day and night to reach out to farmers and poor with various welfare schemes. Modi said his government has effectively curbed corruption, scams, nepotism and state of indecisiveness during the last one year of its governance. Addressing a mega rally at Nagla Chandrabhan in Mathura on the completion of one year of NDA rule, he said those who were in power since last sixty years are now feeling restless as they can not loot the country anymore. He said his government took several new initiatives and decisions everyday during last one year, keeping in mind overall welfare of the common man. Mr Modi said his government is following the philosophy of ideologue Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, who championed the cause of the ‘poorest of the poor’ or the ‘Antyodya’.
AIR correspondent reports that presenting the detailed report card of his government Mr Modi stressed on the cleaning of river Yamuna on the lines of river Ganga. He also said that NDA government will link all the rivers of the country during next five years. He spoke about Swachh Bharat Campaign, ‘House for All’ by 2022 and round the clock power supply in rural areas within next few years.
The Prime Minister said that government has enhanced the efficiency of the existing fertilizer plants to meet the shortage of soil nutrients. It has also decided to revive the sick fertilizer units of Gorakhpur, Sindri and Barauni. Seeking support of the people the PM promised to remove poverty, hunger, injustice, unemployment and illiteracy to take the country to new heights.
